Peptide Slingers

Serving up peptides and peppers. Research peptides, plated with care for laboratory research.

Research use only. Not for use in humans.

Welcome to the Diner

Small kitchen. Big on service. Your inquiry never sits under the heat lamp.

Peptide Slingers is a small supplier of research-grade peptides for qualified researchers, laboratories, and institutions. Our focus is simple: careful handling, clear communication, and responsive, personal service.

All materials are intended strictly for laboratory research use.

What Are Peptides?

A quick chemistry lesson, served hot off the griddle.

Amino Acids

Amino acids are small organic molecules containing an amino group, a carboxyl group, and a distinctive side chain. Twenty standard amino acids are encoded by the genetic code and serve as the building blocks of proteins.

Peptide Bonds

When the carboxyl group of one amino acid reacts with the amino group of another, a covalent peptide (amide) bond forms, releasing a molecule of water. Repeating this links amino acids into a chain.

Peptides vs. Proteins

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, generally up to around 50 residues. Longer chains that fold into complex structures are typically called proteins. Peptide sequence determines its chemical properties.

Keep It Chill

Walk-in freezer wisdom: storage & handling basics for lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides.

  • Store lyophilized peptides in a cool, dry, dark place; for longer-term storage, freezing (−20 °C or colder) is common practice.
  • Keep vials tightly sealed and protected from moisture and light. Desiccants can help.
  • Allow a cold vial to reach room temperature before opening to reduce condensation.
  • Minimize repeated freeze–thaw cycles; aliquoting is a common approach.
  • Reconstituted solutions are generally less stable than the lyophilized form; follow your laboratory’s protocols.
  • Handle using appropriate laboratory PPE and standard safety procedures.
